PANCAKE DAY COMING SOON!

The first Tuesday after the half-term holiday (25th February) is “Pancake Day”, also known as Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras or Carnival. The tradition in many English-speaking countries is to run a race whilst tossing a pancake in a pan before eating it. The original idea was to eat up all the eggs, flour and sugar in your house before the Christian fasting season of Lent.
We would like to mark this secular event by having pancake races in the afternoon, using beanbags instead of real pancakes to avoid the mess! After the races, students share different styles of pancake brought in from home in a giant picnic. Students are also encouraged to come in fancy dress for the day. It would therefore be appreciated if students are sent to school that day wearing a fancy costume and with a fancy pancake to share. Family & friends are also welcome to join in!
